Happy Monday friends!
In case you missed it, I've decided to resurrected my old newsletter, First Thing Monday. I hope you stick around to read it.
The format was pretty simple. I'd share 5-10-ish links each Monday morning. A bit about design and product, technology, art, or just something that took my fancy.
I'm also trying to makes sense of this crazy-exciting moment in tech, where the potential of AI has exploded in the last 6-12 months. So I'll be trying to read and write lots of content in this space. I’ll probably include some of it here, too. I'm most interested in The UX of AI. Not so much the "Will AI take our jobs?" content, but more about how the design industry will evolve as a result of AI. What tools will we use? What tasks will we automate? What new design patterns will emerge?
That kind of thing.
I am by no means an expert in this area. Just learning, like the rest of us. So stick around to watch me awkwardly formulate new thoughts and ideas about it.
But I also love reading and sharing things, so I still expect to provide links and thought about interesting words, pictures or sounds that I've read or stumbled upon.
A few links to get started
I don't feel strongly about self-driving cars. But the activist in me has thoroughly enjoyed seeing this guerilla campaign to immobilize them in San Francisco, with the simple help of a traffic cone.
London's Design Museum have teamed up with Mailchimp to create a joint-exhibition, all about email, called Email is Dead. Would love to go and see that one.
Sorting Therapy is some of the best digital relaxation I’ve had in a long time.
Good to see that Jakob Nielsen is still out there writing. Here’s a recent piece of his that struck a chord: AI is the First New UI Paradigm in 60 Years.
These Ring Size Casio watches are to die for. As are these analog Apple watches, made from e-waste.
What to Do About That Thing You’ve Been Putting Off - a little life hack that I’ve been putting into practice lately. It might help you too.
Oh, and I’m going to try and start blogging again. I’m a little rusty, haven’t written much in recent years, so go easy on me. Here’s my first post in yonks, all about our old mate Clippy … Lessons from an Unpopular Digital Assistant.
Aaaaand, we’re done. See you back here next week.
